Conditions treated with high dose radiation (HDR)
A patient’s cancer care may dictate the use of internal radiation therapy also known as brachytherapy. This high dose internal radiation therapy is delivered by precisely placing a radiation source directly inside or next to the area requiring treatment and is often a more convenient radiation option for many patients.
- Gynecological/vaginal cuff brachytherapy
Procedures
- Space OAR Hydrogel: The procedure uses a polyethylene glycol (PEG) based hydrogel designed to help reduce the radiation dose delivered to avoid damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
- Fiducial markers: Fiducial marker placement uses imaging guidance to place markers in or near a tumor in preparation for radiation therapy. The markers help locate the tumor with greater accuracy.
