We offer four main types of treatment:
- Chemotherapy: Uses drugs to kill rapidly dividing cells, including cancer cells, or to keep the cells from dividing
- Immunotherapy: Boosts your own immune system’s ability to find and attack cancer
- Hormonal therapy: Stops your body from producing certain hormones that help cancer grow or interferes with certain hormones’ actions in your body
- Targeted therapy: Attacks specific cancer cells while limiting damage to healthy cells
Your doctor may recommend more than one of these. Often, they are combined with treatments such as surgery and radiation therapy. Learn more about our cancer care services.
Experienced, board-certified medical oncologists will direct your overall care. In the infusion center, specially trained oncology nurses provide your treatment.
Nurse navigators guide you through the health care system and any obstacles you encounter during treatment. They focus on making your experience less stressful so you can focus on healing.
In the infusion center, our goal is to provide patient centered, quality, safe care, while striving for excellence in patient experience with the understanding of how delicate this journey can be for not only the patient, but family. Our compassionate nurses are specially trained and hold certification for administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. As part of our immediate team, we also have an oncology advanced practice pharmacist that works on the unit with our nurses for routine medication review, symptom management and safety.
Your team also includes a licensed clinical social worker. Oncology social workers are experts in providing psychosocial support to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer, and to their family or support people. Available services include counseling to address the range of emotions an individual may experience after receiving a cancer diagnosis and while in treatment, assistance with practical needs, education on advance care planning, and referrals to support groups.
- Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your appointment.
- A close family member may observe one treatment session by appointment only.
- To comply with hospital regulations, please wear a mask over your nose and mouth and use the hand sanitizer provided upon entering the room. If you do not have a mask one will be provided. We thoroughly clean our equipment between each patient with sanitizing wipes for your safety.
Our cancer support groups allow you to share your experiences with others. They can help you cope with the day-to-day challenges that cancer and its treatments may bring and give you a sense of hope.
