Diagnostic cardiology

Diagnostic tests allow us to evaluate your heart health, identify problems and develop a plan of care that’s tailored to your unique needs. Procedures we provide include:

  • Blood tests
  • Cardiac catheterization – radial and femoral approaches
  • Echocardiography (EKG)
  • Holter monitoring
  • Pacemaker checks
  • Signal average EKG
  • Stress testing with nuclear imaging or echocardiography imaging
  • Transesophageal echocardiography
  • Treadmill stress testing
Interventional cardiology

Interventional cardiology procedures allow us to address certain heart problems with a catheter – a thin, flexible tube with tools on its tip that’s inserted into a blood vessel and threaded to your heart. Our hospital has two special labs with sophisticated X-ray equipment that make these procedures possible. The procedures can help us better understand your heart problem and treat several conditions, including heart attack.

Procedures we conduct include:

  • Balloon angioplasty
  • Cardiac catheterization
  • Placement of stents
  • Implantable defibrillators
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Resynchronization therapy
Electrophysiology

An electrophysiology study provides information about your heart’s electrical system. It helps us pinpoint problems that can cause potentially serious abnormal heart rhythms. We perform certain treatments in the electrophysiology lab, as well.

An electrophysiology study involves passing a catheter to your heart via a blood vessel. Your doctor may recommend it for several reasons, including to:

  • See how well certain heart rhythm medications are working
  • Evaluate how well a pacemaker is working
  • Identify the cause of dizziness, fainting, weakness, palpitations or other symptoms
  • Locate the source of a heart rhythm problem

Specific procedures we perform in the electrophysiology lab include:

  • Ablation therapy
  • Arrhythmia management
Heart surgery

Our experienced cardiac surgeons perform several types of heart surgery, including:

  • Endoscopic radial artery harvesting
  • Endoscopic vein harvesting
  • Mitral valve repair
  • Off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Stentless valve replacement surgery
  • Valve replacement
Cardiac rehabilitation

If you’re recovering from a cardiac event, or have just learned that you have a heart condition, cardiac rehabilitation can help. A team of health care professionals will work with you to provide supervised exercise, stress management guidance and more.
