The Birth Place
Get ready for one of the most memorable events of your lifetime – the grand entrance of your newborn. At Providence Sacred Heart Birth Place, you make the birth plan for your baby. And our highly skilled doctors and nurses will support your labor of love in any way you wish.
To help you feel at home, we provide comfortable birth rooms with a bed, jacuzzi bathtub, rocking chair, birthing balls, TV, music player and a day bed for your support person. If you choose to have anesthesia, our anesthesiologists or nurse anesthetists are here for you 24 hours a day.
When your baby is born, you’ll hear the sound of chimes softly ringing throughout the Birth Place
Your infant will have a security device to always monitor their location after delivery. The device is called HUGS and it will be placed on your baby’s ankle. Baby will remain in your room with you as all times but for peace of mind the device is placed and alerts nursing staff if baby leaves The Birth Place.
What does that mean?
- Your baby will have its own sleep space in your room but not in your bed
- Baby will be place on its back to sleep
- Baby will be swaddled in a blanket securely not a blanket placed over baby
- Nothing will be placed in the sleep space (objects, toys, blankets)
- Additional information is available on the Safe to Sleep website
If you would like anesthesia to help relieve or manage pain during your labor and delivery, our anesthesia specialists are here to support you.

They will always keep you informed, as you are an essential part of the decision-making process during your entire birthing experience.
