Community Support
Community benefit investments are one way Providence lives its Mission. For generations, we’ve offered a caring hand to those with the greatest need in our community.
In the past year, we devoted millions in community benefit to make sustainable improvements in the health of our diverse communities throughout Washington.

For generations, Providence has partnered with people of goodwill to offer a caring hand of compassion. We collaborate with social service and government agencies, charitable foundations, community organizations, universities and many other partners to identify the greatest needs through community health needs assessments. Then our solutions are reflected in community health improvement plans.
Providence Community Benefit is a grant funded opportunity for local nonprofits. This funding provides financial support to local partners making a measurable difference across the Inland Northwest (Spokane and Stevens Counties). Providence made a significant investment in community health initiatives in Spokane and Stevens counties in 2023 totaling $237 million. This financial support addresses the most urgent regional health and social issues, including housing insecurity/homelessness, food insecurity, access to health care, and mental health needs. Providence Community Benefit only accepts applications for funding during select dates in the Fall.

Providence Community Program Support and Sponsorships provide smaller funding opportunities to local nonprofits in support of our vision: Creating healthier communities, together. These sponsorships offer opportunities for Providence to build partnerships with local non-profit organizations in Spokane and Stevens County.
Throughout the year, Providence works to support community partners to address specific unmet needs.
Our decisions are largely based on our CHNA (Community Health Needs Assessment).View CHNAs.

- Behavioral Health: Mental health, substance use and treatment or adverse experiences, trauma prevention
- Social Determinants of Health and Wellbeing: Affordable housing, healthy food, living wage jobs, transportation.
