Patients and Visitors
Coming to the hospital brings forth a variety of emotions. The strain of caring for a sick family member. The elation at the birth of a child. The apprehension awaiting lab results. Or the calm reassurance following stitches or a cast.
We understand these feelings and do our best to make you feel at ease. With that in mind, we extend a warm welcome to you, your family and friends.
We hope you will find your room comfortable and a pleasant place to stay. It includes an electrically adjustable bed and easy-to-use nurse call button. All rooms have telephones and color TV's. Depending on the area of the hospital in which you are staying, your room may also have additional amenities.
When providing care, attention is focused on the unique needs of each age-related category we serve. Personalized attention is given to the needs of infants, toddlers and young children, school-aged children, teens, adults and the elderly.
Visiting Hours
General visiting hours are from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. each day, with no visitor age restrictions.
Visiting hours for The Birth Center are from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. - 8:30 pm.
For patients in the intensive care unit, visitations are restricted depending on the patient's condition.
Patient services at Providence Newberg Medical Center can be divided into two main categories - each with specialized staff members, levels of expertise and patient-friendly admissions process.
- In-patient: Anything that requires you being admitted to the hospital falls under the heading of in-patient services. Maybe you've broken your hip and need replacement surgery. Maybe you're having a baby. Or maybe you're having chest pains and need to be monitored overnight. These are all examples of in-patient care that would require a stay in the hospital.
- Out-patient: If you're coming to us for a service that doesn't require a stay in the hospital, you are considered a part of the out-patient services. Pre-operative procedures such as x-rays, urinalysis and blood draws are done during routine scheduled appointments.
For visitors looking for a light snack, a hot cup of coffee, or something to eat, our cafeteria (Ruth's Cafe) is open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Inside of these hours, visitors can find hot meals:
- Breakfast: 6:30 - 9:30 a.m.
- Lunch: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Dinner: 5 - 7 p.m.
If you have special food preferences, please let us know. As a patient, your physician has ordered one of several menu types to be used during your stay. This includes categories such as regular, no-sodium and liquid only. You can make your menu selections for lunch and dinner- within your particular dietary category - on a special menu order form that's delivered with breakfast. All meals are delivered by room service.
Our discharge planning staff is on hand to help you plan for any special care you may need after leaving the hospital, such as:
- Transfer to another health care facility or another living option
- Make arraignments for a homemaker or personal care aid at home
- Obtain medical equipment or transportation
- Arrange for financial assistance
Social work is an integral part of patient care services provided by Providence Newberg Medical Center. Please ask to see the social worker if you have any questions and concerns about post-hospital planning, counseling or information and referral.
