Colorectal Cancer Screening (colonoscopy)
Overview
Unlike many cancers, colon cancer is preventable. Colon cancer screening can help decrease your risk for colon cancer. Colon cancer starts from little growths called polyps that develop on the lining of the colon or rectum. Over time, some of these polyps can become cancerous.
Several screening tests can be used to find polyps or colorectal cancer, such as a Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) or colonoscopy. Talk to your doctor about which test is right for you.
For your convenience, we offer appointment times and locations for a colonoscopy screening in Yamhill County.
New Guidelines
The American Cancer Society and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recently revised their guidelines to begin colorectal cancer screening at age 45. Contact your health insurance provider to learn about coverage information for colorectal screening.
