Kadlec Medical Associates
We are dedicated to inpatient care, defined by quality and compassion.
Kadlec Medical Associates is a hospital-based group of physician specialists who care for patients in the medical, pediatric and intensive care units. These physicians do not have an outside private practice and focus on providing evidence-based medicine and the latest treatments available to the patients they serve. It translates to safe, timely and efficient medical care for the patients they serve.
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the care of hospitalized patients and whose practice is in the hospital not in an office. Our hospitalists are well trained and well-versed in the unique needs of the hospitalized patient.
Hospitalists assume the role of your primary care provider while you are in the hospital. It is a hospitalist’s job to help you regain your health as quickly as possible. They do this by designing an individualized treatment plan for each patient and by working with nurses and other health care professionals to provide this personal attention.
From admission to discharge, our hospitalists communicate with your Primary Care physician. At discharge, the hospital team sends important medical information about your hospital stay and discharge plan to your primary care physician. When you leave the hospital, your primary care physician will resume responsibility for your medical care.
Hospital-based physicians specialize in managing conditions which require hospitalization. Because hospitalists don’t have a private practice, they are devoted to the care of hospitalized patients 24 hours a day.
Hospitalists will be available to answer questions in person whenever possible. Their presence in the hospital helps them to be accessible to your family.
Prior to discharge, the hospital staff may attempt to make an appointment for you with your primary care physician or specialist for follow-up care. Staff may also help you to establish care with a primary care physician if you do not have one.
A pediatric hospitalist is a doctor who specializes in caring for children from birth to 18 years while they are in the hospital. They are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of acutely ill children who require hospitalization. Because our pediatric hospitalists practice inside the hospital, they are ready and available for the type of care required by hospitalized children and their family. They also are available to discuss your child's care including diagnoses, tests, and need for further treatment or procedures: 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. Kadlec Regional Medical Center's hospitalists work closely with your child's physician and communicate with your doctor regarding your child's admission to the hospital and follow-up care. Your regular doctor may visit your child in the hospital at any time.
Who makes up the Kadlec pediatric team?
Kadlec Regional Medical Center's pediatric hospitalists are a team of pediatricians who have completed four years of medical school and at least three years of pediatric residency. They work collaboratively with your primary care provider as well as with pediatric subspecialists as needed to provide the highest quality inpatient experience for your child and family. Through a partnership with Seattle Children's Hospital, our pediatric hospitalist team is working to provide services that previously have not been available in our community.
We also work as a team with our outstanding pediatric nurses, social workers, child life specialist, and allied health professionals to provide your family with a holistic, thoughtful and comprehensive experience during your hospital stay.
The hospitalist team helps:
When specialty care is needed, the team will work with you to arrange coordinated subspecialty care. Our relationship with Seattle Children's Hospital gives our patients access to world-class leaders in nearly all areas of pediatric medicine.
When your family is discharged from the hospital, your child will return to the care of your primary doctor who will resume the responsibility for your child's medical care. The team will provide him or her with a written report of important medical information about your child's hospitalization and discharge plan. They will also help arrange follow-up care, prescribe any medicines, and arrange for special medical equipment if needed.
If you do not have a doctor or other primary health care provider, the hospitalist team, and other Kadlec Regional Medical Center staff, will help you find one to care for your child after you leave the hospital.
When you are a patient in the hospital, there are a number of people who have a role in caring for your child. The Kadlec Regional Medical Center Pediatric Hospitalist Team is here for you. If you or your family wish to speak to a pediatric hospitalist doctor, please ask your nurse to help you make arrangements.
Kadlec's intensivists are board-certified physicians with advanced training and certification in providing care for critically ill patients. They are skilled at identifying complications that may arise and at taking further action before conditions worsen. Intensivists oversee many decisions that go into caring for the critically ill and are dedicated to providing a high level of individualized care for your loved one.
Intensivists discuss a patient’s current medical status and treatment with the ICU team in order to individualize plans of care to enhance the wellness and safety of the patients and families. The treatment team consists of RN’s, respiratory therapists, dietitians, physical therapists, social workers and chaplains.
