Birth Plan Options
You may have heard about birth plans and wonder if you need one. The answer is it's totally up to you! You don’t need to have a birth plan to give birth, but it can be useful to help you think about and communicate your desires for your baby's birth and newborn care. It contains details about which birth techniques you'd like to try, how you want your pain managed, types of care and feeding for your baby and other details around labor and delivery.
If you choose to have a birth plan, we recommend that you take it to your OB visit by your 36 week checkup so that you can review it with your physician and have it be scanned and entered into your medical record. Please bring it when you come to deliver. Your care team will discuss any reasons for deviation from your plan but will do their absolute best to meet your birthing plan goals.
