DAISY Award
The DAISY Foundation is dedicated to funding research to help eliminate diseases attacking the immune system, and to supporting ITP patients and their families. Having been touched by the remarkable care, clinical skills and compassion demonstrated by nurses during Patrick's illness, the Barnes family made it their mission to recognize exceptional nurses around the country.
At Providence Alaska Medical Center, registered nurses involved in direct patient care including staff nurses, clinical nurse leaders, assistant nurse managers and clinical nurse specialists are eligible for this award.

A DAISY nurse's clinical skill and especially her/his compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. A DAISY nurse consistently meets the following criteria:
- Exemplifies the art and science of nursing through compassionate care for patients, families, and co-workers
- Demonstrates in daily practice the Providence Mission and Core Values
- Values and is an eager participant of interdisciplinary teamwork advocates for the right care, at the right time
- Employs evidence based care using best practices
- Mentors and educates co-workers using a positive supportive approach
