Providence Hospital at Home provides patients with certain health conditions the choice to receive hospital-level care at home instead of in the hospital. Patients are recommended for the program by a doctor, such as the emergency room provider.

With Providence Hospital at Home, patients receive safe, excellent, and personal care in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their home. People who receive hospital care from their home often find the care experience more satisfying. Additionally, they tend to recover faster and decrease their likelihood of going back to the hospital.

A Snapshot into a Providence Hospital at Home’s Patient Journey

The Providence Hospital at Home care team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via phone, text, and video. In addition, care team members will come to the patient’s home to support the treatment plan. The patient will have a virtual visit with the physician at least once a day, or more if indicated.

Home visits:
  • Scheduled daily
Length of visits:
  • On average, 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your care needs
Day of admission:
  • Physician
  • Registered Nurse (RN) and/or other licensed clinician as appropriate
Each day until discharge:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) and/or other licensed clinician as appropriate
Additional services as needed:
  • Case management
  • Physical therapy
  • Infusion services
  • Occupational therapy
  • Spiritual care
  • Radiology services

This program gave me the best of both worlds. I could drink as much water as I wanted, pet my dog, relax on my comfy couch instead of a hard gurney, watch stupid tv shows, and joke with my husband, all while getting inpatient-level treatment. My Care Team responded more quickly than inpatient nurses can answer a Call Button. Every question I had was immediately answered, and everyone was so nice they almost brought me to tears.
