2023 PACE Holiday Gathering for Seniors
PACE's Heartwarming Holiday Celebration for Seniors in NE Portland
Amidst the festive spirit of December, Providence ElderPlace PACE Irvington Village and the Portland Covenant Church on NE Mason St. came together to create a memorable holiday celebration. Tailored to the African American community, the event brought together members from the local area for a festive evening of laughter and cultural connection. The PACE Holiday Gathering for Seniors was a testament to the power of community and the joy of coming together.
Guests arrived, dressed to the nines for the occasion, embodying the spirit of “Dress to Impress.” There was live music, holiday singalongs, holiday craft table, games, raffle prizes, and a buffet of food and drink. Pictures with Black Santa helped contribute to the festive atmosphere.
The event showcased the community's dedication to supporting and uplifting its elders. Seven lucky individuals received a special "Holiday Makeover," featuring complimentary manicures, fresh hairstyles, and the thrill of choosing elegant attire from a selection of donated formal outfits. Each makeover served as a celebration of beauty, confidence, and the importance of self-care.
PACE and the Portland Covenant Church extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this holiday celebration a resounding success. Here’s to many more joyful gatherings in the years to come!
A special “thank you” to the following individuals and groups for their special commitment to making this event a memorable success:
- Antonio Harris Photography for your time and skilled eye in creating the beautiful, commemorative photos
- Love in Action Volunteers from the New Zion Revival Church
- Courtney Young and the Sparrow Collective Church Volunteers for volunteering your time to help with manicures, the Christmas Carols sing-along, serving our guests the wonderful food, and cleanup afterwards.
- Everyone who donated the beautiful men’s and women’s formal wear to the PACE Clothes Closet. Not only did our seven guest makeovers take home three outfits of their own, but we also shared extra clothes with several residents at additional PACE sites.
