Student Responsibilities

The following links contain information and forms you should review and sign prior to your start date at Providence.

Step 1: Please print the Pre-Arrival Orientation Checklist for Nursing. Use this document to track your progress as you complete each of the steps below. Submit signed form to your school.

Step 4: Claim PRMCE Network Account:

  • Visit PRMCE Claim Account you will need, legal first and last name, DOB and last 4 of SSN#
  • If you have been on rotation at any Providence St. Joseph ministry previously, you may be able to skip this step. If you fall into this category, please contact Clinical Informatics at 425-261-4301 prior to doing this step so we can work with you to check on this. Otherwise, you must do this step first.
  • If you are unable to claim your account, please contact our Ask IT Help Desk at 1-844-922-7548. Keep in mind that User IDs can be a combination of a letter and numbers, or it might be formatted as first.last. There are several variations.

Step 5: Complete the e-Learnings on the Epic Learning Resources page

  • Use the Providence ID you received, upon claiming your network account to access the training at the link below:
  • Once finished with Epic Prelearnings, complete this form (it will automatically be saved with Nursing Education after you submit it):

COVID-19 Interim Measures for Students and Faculty

All students are required to be fit tested to the current mask in use at PRMCE, prior to the start of clinicals.

If a student fails the initial fit test, please email Elizabeth Hinkson to review options.

Flu declinations will not be accepted for PRMCE clinicals.

All students and faculty that attend clinicals at PRMCE are required to receive their annual influenza vaccine.

Faculty Responsibilities

Four weeks prior to start of clinical rotation:

  • Your school is now responsible for requesting student accounts for electronic Medical Record access (EPIC).
  • In order to request the student accounts, you (or the designee from your school) must first claim your own account:
    • Many schools have a designated individual who requests accounts. Please check with your school to determine who this designee is for your institution.
    • If you need to claim your access to request student accounts use the following link: PRMCE Claim Account. Note: You will need, legal first and last name, DOB, and last 4 of SSN#
  • Request student accounts through the Service Now portal
    • Service Now Access Portal (You may need to download Citrix Receiver to access the portal. Instructions can be found here on how to do so.)
    • Helpful tips for onboarding students can be found here: Tip Sheet
    • Important: Start date entered should be two weeks prior to scheduled student EPIC training
  • After account submission, email Rebecca Woodbury to:
    • Submit a list of students for which you requested accounts using the EPIC Spreadsheet.
  • Attend a Faculty Orientation session with Nursing Education. Dates will be sent to your school ahead of each academic quarter or semester Approximately three trainings will be conducted per year.
  • For Senior/ Final Quarter Practicum student preceptor assignments, please email a list of student names and the units they have been assigned (Late submissions may result in preceptor assignment and student start date delays.)
  • Important: Once a student has left the program, or graduates, please remember to request that the student account be terminated through SailPoint. See “Tip Sheet” for instructions.

Two weeks prior to start of clinical rotation:

  • Verify that your students have completed all of the requirements on the Nursing Student section of the Prov Prep Portal.
  • Submit Pyxis Tutorial Completion Certificates and Faculty Pyxis Authorization Forms in one scanned PDF attachment to [email protected].
  • Submit a completed Group Badge Request Form to PRMCEstudents@providence.org.
  • Coordinate a time to train your students on the AccuCheck Glucose Meter:
    • Nursing Faculty must be certified and trained as a trainer by our office before they can train their students
    • Nursing Faculty need to reserve training meters with our facility. Please call the Point of Care office at 425-261-3659
    • Nursing Faculty need to reserve a training room with our catering department; please email Marianne Richardson for classroom or conference room reservations
    • If Nursing Faculty have been trained on the AccuCheck at another facility or in another region, they still need to go through the PRMCE process

Faculty Orientation

If you are a clinical faculty member coming to Providence Medical Center for the first time, please complete the following (signed forms and completion certificates should be retained by your school and are subject to audit):

Step 5: PYXIS Tutorial

  1. Application to register for: Learning Compass
  2. Email address: you may use any functional email address that you can currently access (Note: gmail.com addresses are not accepted for registration)
  3. BD Brand for future training: Dispensing products
  4. User Type: Student
  5. Institution: select your school from the drop down list
  6. Contact information: please enter personal contact information as requested
  7. Title: Student (Nurse)
  8. Password: create your own unique password; must contain 8 characters with at least 1 uppercase letter, lowercase letter, and 1 digit.
  • Once you have completed the registration process, please check the email account that you used to register for a confirmation email and follow the instructions on how to complete your account setup.
  • Once logged in, use the Role buttons in the orange bar across the top of the Content Library, and in the Products section on the left to narrow down your search to find your facility’s product and version. The first time you log in, if you do not see the Role buttons, log out and back in to update your view
  • Scroll down to Nurse/Clinician-Pyxis MedStation ES v1.5: Essentials, Profile Mode
  • Upon completion of the course, you will be transferred to another page where you will have the option to View My Certificate
  • Print your certificate and submit to PRMCEstudents@providence.org.
