Why Choose Us for Heart Care?

At Providence, we see the life in you. We are committed to making a positive difference in every life we touch.

We always take a highly personalized approach to caring for your heart. Your local heart care doctors meet weekly with other regional experts to discuss your case. With these multidisciplinary committees, you know you’re getting the best treatment without having to visit another doctor or specialist yourself.

As part of this patient-centered approach, our care for you doesn’t end when you’re discharged from the operating room. We’re committed to supporting you through your entire health journey.

At Northwest Heart & Lung, we care for patients of all ages with many different heart conditions. We specialize in cardiovascular surgery, including adult and congenital heart surgery and thoracic surgery. For patients with end-stage heart disease, our cardiothoracic organ transplant and mechanical heart teams provide extensive, specialized care. Plus, we have the only heart transplant center in the Inland Northwest. It’s all part of our commitment to comprehensive patient care.

We are one of the few centers in the western United States to offer robotic mitral valve repairs and replacements. The Mitral Foundation recommends choosing a center that performs more than 50 mitral valve procedures annually. Our group performs approximately 180 of these surgeries each year, more than any other heart program in the region.

Your care team may include world-renowned cardiovascular surgeons, robotic heart surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, surgical assistants, perfusionists and many more caregivers. Our expert surgeons use minimally invasive procedures whenever possible to improve outcomes and reduce recovery times.

Few cardiac surgeons have the skill, training and experience to perform robotic mitral valve repair the way ours do. We’re also the only medical center in the region to perform robotic heart surgery, and we have the most experience of any robotic heart surgery group in the Northwest.

At Providence, we make sure each of our patients has access to the best heart care. We value, respect and support the racial, ethnic, religious, spiritual, gender and sexual identities of each member of our diverse community. We welcome all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. We aim to treat every patient equally and with dignity – whoever you are, and wherever you are in your journey.

We are part of the Providence Heart Institute of Spokane, which features world-class cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiovascular and vascular surgeons, and specialty trained nurses, therapists and advanced care teams throughout the Inland Northwest. Every cardiovascular patient at Providence benefits from our local experts, with extended connectivity to a collaborative network that includes award-winning physicians, scientists, researchers and caregivers across 51 hospitals in seven states. The power of our comprehensive network is one of the reasons more than 60,000 people choose Providence Heart Institute of Spokane for their heart and vascular care each year.
