Stroke Center
We’re ready to care for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The moment you enter our doors, a team of dedicated professionals springs into action. From your evaluation in the emergency department to rehabilitation that helps you regain any lost abilities, we focus on helping you have the best possible outcome.
Since 2010, we've been certified as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations. This speaks to the quality of care we provide and our commitment to meeting each person’s unique needs.
There are three main types of stroke we treat:
- Ischemic strokes are the most common type of stroke. They occur when a clot blocks blood flow to part of your brain.
- Hemorrhagic strokes occur when a blood vessel ruptures.
- Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) are sometimes called ministrokes. They’re the result of a temporary blood clot and may cause symptoms that pass quickly. You should treat a TIA as an emergency. It can be a sign that a more serious stroke is in your future.
Recognizing stroke symptoms is the key to getting help quickly. Thank FAST:
- Face: Ask the person you’re concerned about to smile. Does one side of their face droop?
- Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
- Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred, or does it sound strange?
- Time: If you observe any of these signs, call 911 right away.
