Nicotine Cessation
It’s no secret that nicotine is bad for your health, but quitting can be easier said than done. If you use a nicotine product, one of the most important steps you can take to improve your health is to quit nicotine. If you’re ready to quit, Providence is here to help.
Quitting smoking is hard, but Providence is here for you every step of the way. Participating in a smoking-cessation program will give you an even stronger likelihood of success. From current medications to support groups and beyond, we can help you physically and emotionally quit the habit.
The best success is seen with a combination of behavior modification and medication. Tobacco-cessation medications reduce cravings and are proven to double the success rate of quitting by lessening the urge to smoke. Talk to your doctor about whether pharmacologic options are appropriate for you. If you’ve tried quitting on your own and failed, we can help increase your chances of being smoke free for the rest of your healthy, active life.
Some insurance programs cover tobacco cessation medications, including prescription and over-the-counter medications (patch, gum, etc.). Call your insurance carrier to verify your benefit coverage and talk to your doctor about prescription and over-the-counter medications.
We know how hard it can be to stop smoking, but it’s one of the most important things you can do to improve your health. According to the American Heart Association, quitting not only lowers your risk of coronary heart disease, but it also lowers the risk of repeat heart attacks and death from heart disease by nearly 50%.
Quitting smoking can also help you manage many contributors to heart attack, including atherosclerosis, thrombosis, coronary artery disease and cardiac arrhythmias.
If you’ve tried quitting on your own and failed, we can help increase your chances of being smoke free for the rest of your healthy, active life.
Across Providence, we offer Nicotine Cessation classes designed to prepare you to quit nicotine for good.
