Sports Medicine
At Providence, we’re committed to helping you achieve greatness in your sport. Through personal care and expertise, our doctors will help you stay active and engaged in the activities you love to pursue.
The goal of sports medicine is to help you prepare for your sport, avoid injuries and improve your performance.
We understand that being an athlete means being prone to injury, particularly those related to soft tissues such as ligaments and tendons: sprains, muscle pulls and fractures. Because these injuries are all too common among athletes, our sports medicine services begin with a comprehensive injury assessment.
Using the assessment results, we provide non-operative orthopedic care suitable for patients who experience sports and exercise-related injuries, helping them stay active and balance their performance goals with their athletic wellness.
By working closely with patients, listening to their concerns and understanding their needs, our sports medicine physicians offer a comprehensive team approach to their patients’ wellbeing. They work in partnership with local orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, radiologists and athletic trainers to provide optimal health care.
Sports medicine physicians at Providence are experts in the field. Many of them are fellows of varying sports medicine fellowship programs and have undergone extensive training in family medicine and orthopedic health care. Their dedication to the craft makes them more than doctors; they take a personal and active interest in sports, fitness and nutritional health.

Providence offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment, focusing on returning injured athletes to activity as quickly and safely as possible. Since every sport requires something different of an athlete, your particular sport or exercise routine will play an integral role in your evaluation and treatment plan.
Sports injury rehab treatment emphasizes nonsurgical care and rehabilitation whenever possible. If you have had surgery, we can help speed your recovery through rehabilitation.
Our goal is to evaluate your condition and establish a treatment plan during your first visit so you can begin your recovery as quickly as possible. Following evaluation, the therapist will start you on a customized treatment program, including activities that can be done independently at home or at your gym.
