Providence St. Peter Hospital MRI Team awarded continued ACR Accreditation
Accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety.
SOUTH PUGET SOUND — Providence St. Peter Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). MRI is a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.
“Keeping and maintaining ACR accreditation ensures we are providing the highest quality imaging for our patients,” said Rachael Montes, MRI technologist. “ACR Accreditation is the ‘gold standard’ of imaging and we are very proud our team is able to provide this level of imaging and care for our patients.”
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.
“Maintaining our ACR accreditation sets us up for success and lets our community know that we implement safe staffing levels and safety procedures, so our patients have the best MRI experience possible,” added Montes. “Additionally, ACR prompts us to keep high diagnostic image quality standards in line with other ACR accredited MRI departments in our area.”
