When it was time to choose a birthing center, Mario and Courtney Lopez found a clear connection with Providence St. Joseph.

Faith has been at the core of Providence’s mission for over 100 years.

Faith has been instrumental to Mario Lopez – shaping who he is and how he’s interacted with the world since he was a child.
When Mario Lopez and his wife, Courtney, were looking for a hospital where they would welcome each of their three children, Providence St. Joseph was a strong fit. Not only did it offer the expertise, compassion and care they wanted, but it also provided something just as important to the Lopez family – a focus on faith.
Faith has been the foundation of Providence since the Sisters of Providence and the Sisters of St. Joseph first began serving communities in the Pacific Northwest. These Sisters supported families, schools, churches and workers in many ways, including providing health care to those that needed it most. Today, Providence carries that mission forward across our 52 hospitals, 950 clinics and 28.1 million patient visits each year.
For Mario, his faith is also the foundation of who he is – as a man, father, actor, singer, dancer and television and radio host. He often speaks about his spiritual journey, from his Catholic upbringing to how he and his wife incorporate religion into their children’s lives.
“Faith is very important to me,” he shares. “The thing I love about Providence is that [faith] is really the root of who they are, and they come from a place of love.”
Putting families first
It’s not only faith that guides care at Providence, but also our focus on the whole patient and whole family. This approach was something Courtney experienced – and appreciated – during her time at Providence St. Joseph.
“Providence made me feel seen as a person and as a family,” she shares.
At Providence, we are dedicated to sharing God’s healing love to all – from well-known celebrities to the poor and most vulnerable in our communities. Here, we believe that we are only at our strongest when we are all at our healthiest and have access to quality, equitable health care.
