Vascular Surgery
Vascular Surgery
The Vascular Surgery department of the Providence Heart Institute is the only dedicated vascular surgery program in western Montana. We serve patients from a large region of the Rocky Mountain west.
Our vascular team includes an experienced surgical physician assistant, vascular-certified nursing staff, and certified vascular sonographers. Our vascular team works collaboratively with colleagues in cardiology, cardiac surgery, interventional radiology, primary care and internal medicine, with the goal of providing the best outcomes for our patients.
Vascular surgery is a specialty that addresses peripheral vascular disease (disease of the arteries and veins). We offer comprehensive evaluation, using a state-of-the-art vascular imaging suite to develop an individualized plan of care that best suits each patient's situation.
Treatments for arterial disease are performed either in a traditional operating room, or within our specialized hybrid radiology suite. Treatments for venous disease are performed in our new imaging and procedure suite within the ambulatory clinic area.

If you have peripheral vascular disease or have undergone a procedure to treat a clot in your extremities, supervised exercise therapy is important for recovery and long-term prevention of further complications due to vascular disease.
At the Providence Heart Institute, we will help to decrease pain in your extremities and give you the ability to do more throughout your day.
Your vascular rehab program will include structured exercise, preferably walking, and education on risk factor management to improve your quality of life. Strength training is also incorporated as you feel comfortable.
By participating in our rehab program, you will regain confidence in your ability to safely perform activities of daily living and become a more informed partner in your own recovery.
