Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehabilitation
After you suffer a heart attack, undergo cardiac surgery or experience another type of heart incident, supervised exercise is extremely important.
At the Providence Heart Institute, we'll help you rebuild your strength and fitness and safely increase your level of exercise. Your cardiac rehab program may include resistance exercises, aerobic training and education about diet and medication management.
By participating in our rehab programs, you will regain confidence in your own ability to safely perform activities of daily living. And you will become a more informed partner in your own recovery.
Cardiac rehabilitation is a supervised exercise program, carefully designed to help patients recover after some type of heart event, such as:
- Angina (chest pain)
- Congestive heart failure
- Coronary angioplasty and stenting
- Heart attack
- Minimally-invasive cardiac procedure (such as TAVR or M-clip)
- Open heart surgery
Whether you are an inpatient or outpatient, our cardiac rehabilitation program can help you regain your fitness and feel better. Cardiac rehab can:
- Improve endurance
- Improve your ability to perform activities of daily living
- Reduce your cardiac risk factors
- Reduce your risk for future cardiac events
- Build confidence and knowledge
Through our cardiac rehab program, you’ll learn how diet, stress and exercise impact your heart health, and we’ll teach you healthy life skills.
Cardiac Rehab is an opportunity for you to increase your regular exercise safely while building confidence in your abilities to cope with the fears that can arise after your cardiac event. Participating in our inpatient and outpatient rehab programs also helps you become a more informed partner in your recovery.
Once you have successfully completed the outpatient phase of cardiac rehab, we encourage you to keep up the good work and participate in our Heart Smart program. Heart Smart is a non-monitored maintenance cardiac rehabilitation program offered at our exercise facility.
We’re part of the Providence Heart Institute, a network of cardiac and vascular teams that provide unmatched, comprehensive heart care. Learn more.
