Welcome to Providence House – Yakima, a HUD-subsidized apartment building in beautiful downtown Yakima. Living here means you have easy access to the seasonal farmers’ market, shopping, restaurants, medical services, movie theaters and public transportation.
Our high-quality building offers HUD-subsidized studio and one-bedroom apartments to disabled adults and seniors age 55 and older. Providence House was designed and built especially for aging seniors and people with disabilities. We take pride in offering on-site services coordination to help residents connect with and access community resources so they can age in place in the comfort of their own home.

In order to submit an application for housing at Providence House Yakima, you must meet the following initial eligibility requirements. Other eligibility criteria for housing will be verified when an application reaches the top of the wait list (e.g. criminal background check, student status, etc.).
- At the time of application, the head of household, spouse or co-head of household must be 62 years of age or older, or 18 years of age or older with a verifiable disability
- Maximum household size for a studio or one-bedroom apartment is 2 persons
- Applicants must disclose their social security numbers at the time of application, and will be required to provide documentation during the initial eligibility process
- Household income must be at or below HUD’s financial criteria for receiving rental assistance, which is 50% of the Area Median Income for Yakima County, WA. HUD income limits as of July 3, 2024 are as follows:
- 1-Person Household: $31,500
- 2-Person Household: $36,000
- 1-Person Household: $31,500

Please note that we will run a tenant screening report when qualified applicants reach the top of the wait list. There is no charge to applicants for running the report, and the report is usable only for properties owned and managed by Providence. For information about our screening criteria, refer to the Tenant Selection Plan. If you have completed a comprehensive reusable tenant screening report at another property, you may choose to share that with us, but you are not required to do so.

Providence House Yakima is a three-story secure apartment building with elevator access. We have 12 studio apartments (440 square feet) and 35 one-bedroom apartments (530 square feet).
We are a non-smoking community.

Completed applications must be printed, signed and mailed to the management office of the House(s) you’re applying to. Applicants who appear to meet all eligibility requirements will be added to the wait list and will be contacted when their application nears the top.
Now you’re ready to complete your application materials. Please review these materials carefully, and complete all sections of the application and attached documents. Incomplete applications will be returned to you, causing a delay in adding your application to the wait list. If you have any questions while you are completing these materials, please contact the management office.
Please sign your completed application materials and mail them to the address listed on the application.
You may contact the office at any time to check on the status of your application. If your phone number or address changes, or you have a change in household composition, income, or other circumstances that may affect your application, you must contact the office to update information on your application.

Providence House is located in downtown Yakima, close to a residential area and various social services.
It’s easy to get around town when you live at Providence House. The Yakima transit bus route is right across the street. In addition, qualified individuals can use the Yakima Transit’s Dial-A-Ride service and/or People for People transportation services.
We are just one block away from Miller Park. The park is a beautiful space to relax and enjoy the outdoors, it includes a gazebo, picnic tables, lots of open grass areas, walking paths and basketball courts. If you feel like exploring a bit, we’re close to a 10 mile paved Yakima Greenway path that runs along the Yakima River. You can walk or ride a bicycle along the path and enjoy the beautiful views. We are also about one and a half miles away from Greenway Park.
For your grocery shopping needs, Wray’s Thriftway, Albertsons, Safeway, Walmart, Target and an ethnic food market are all within two miles of our building.
We are fortunate to be located near many medical providers and facilities to meet all of your health and wellness needs. Yakima Memorial Hospital is three miles away and Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center is a little over one mile away. Both facilities have comprehensive emergency care, inpatient and outpatient services. Additional area medical facilities include Yakima Farmworkers Clinic, Yakima Neighborhood Health and many primary care and specialty care clinics.
There are several local and national pharmacies within a few miles of our apartment building such as Barton’s Center pharmacy (delivery), Costco, Rite Aid, Shopko, Walgreens and Walmart.
